ABOUT

Hi, I’m Karim.Full-stack Designer

DesignOps lead with 11+ years across enterprise software, e-commerce marketplaces, agency web design and independent consulting in Canada and India, including 4+ years leading design teams and design operations. I build the operating models, design systems and AI tooling that product teams work inside, and I got here by owning monetisation UX, conversion and design systems on one of Canada’s largest C2C marketplaces. I’m at my best optimising the processes around them. Away from screens, I love travelling and exploring cultures and learning about the history of the world.

Open to DesignOps Lead, Design Program Manager and UX Manager roles — Bangalore, or remote across EU, US and Canada.

What else?

Thinking style

Systems thinker. I look for the point where design, technology and behaviour constrain each other.

Intellectual interests

Cognitive science, decision-making, and how complex systems end up shaped the way they are.

Away from screens

Long walks, around 4km a day. Where most of my ideas actually get worked out.

Hobbies

Building VowStory, an AI-native wedding planning app — designed and shipped end to end, solo. Currently in TestFlight.

How I built
this site

Built with AI

Written spec-first with AI coding agents, then reviewed and corrected by hand.

Next.js and Tailwind

TypeScript throughout, with every page prerendered so it arrives as plain HTML.

Motion can be turned off

If your device is set to reduce motion, nothing on the site animates or slides.

Works without a mouse

Tab through any page and a clear outline always shows you where you are.

Screen-reader friendly

The menu and filters say whether they are open, and every link says where it leads.

Text you can actually read

The amber was darkened for light mode to reach 5.5:1 contrast, past the WCAG AA minimum.
